Supporting device biometrics
Check if your device supports biometrics
To support biometric authentication with BindID, make sure that:
- Biometrics are enrolled and enabled on the device
- OS version is at least iOS 14.5 or Android 9.0
- Browser is at least Safari 14.5, Chrome 95, Firefox 38 (iOS), or Microsoft Edge 95
Check your OS version
Support for biometrics depends on the version of your operating system. The minimum version is 14.5 for iOS and 9.0 for
Android.
You can check your current OS version for iOS devices from Settings > General > About, and for Android devices from
Settings > About Phone or About Device.
Upgrade to the latest OS version
Support for biometrics depends on the version of your operating system. The minimum version is 14.5 for iOS and 9.0 for
Android. If you’re using a lower version, you’ll need to upgrade in order to authenticate using biometrics.
You can upgrade to the latest OS version for iOS devices from Settings > General > Software Update, and for Android
devices from System > System Update
Check or change your default browser
Whenever you scan a QR code or click a link to authenticate using your mobile device, the default browser is opened.
Since support for biometrics depends on browser, you may need to change your default browser to one that supports
biometrics.
You can manage the default browser for iOS devices from Settings > browser app > Default Browser App, and for Android
devices from Settings > App Management > Default Apps > Browser App
Check or update your Safari (iOS) version
We test the solution to make sure it’s supported on the 2 latest major versions of Safari, so at least 14.5 should be
used.
Since Safari is part of the iOS operating system, its version is the same as the OS version. You can check or update the
version from Settings > General > Software Update.
Check or update your Chrome version
We test the solution to make sure it’s supported on the 2 latest major versions of Chrome, so at least 95 should be
used. Chrome should update automatically based on the app store settings.
From your Android Chrome app, after tapping the three-dot icon, you can check your version from Settings > About Chrome,
or update your version from Update Chrome.
For your iOS Chrome app, after tapping the three-dot icon, you can check your version from
Settings > Google Chrome, or update your version from the App Store if an update is available.
Check or update your Microsoft Edge version
We test the solution to make sure it’s supported on the 2 latest major versions of Microsoft Edge, so you should use at
least 95. Typically, Microsoft Edge updates automatically when you restart your browser.
From your Microsoft Edge app, after tapping the three-dot icon, you can check your version from
Settings > About Microsoft Edge or update your version from the app store if there’s an update available.
Check or update your Firefox version
We test the solution to make sure it’s supported on the 2 latest major versions of Firefox, so you should use at least
38 for iOS. Typically, Firefox updates automatically.
From your Firefox app, after tapping the menu button, you can check your version from
Settings > About, or update your version from the app store if there’s an update available.
